Low taper fade, from Hobbs.
A low taper tidies only the sideburns, the edge around the ear and the neckline, and leaves the rest of the head alone. I cut it in Carlsbad. Hobbs to my door is 70 miles on US 62/180, and the routing puts it near 80 minutes (OpenStreetMap routing).
Of every fade on my menu, this is the one that minds that distance least.

Least skin, gentlest grow-out, fewest trips.
A skin fade shows stubble against bare scalp within days. A low taper has very little skin to show, so the regrowth melts into the hair above it instead of standing out. At 80 minutes each way, that difference is the difference between a cut you maintain monthly and one you can let ride.
If you'd like to see me less often and still look tidy in between, ask for the taper low with some length on the sides; I'll set the neckline so it's the last thing to blur.
Mid buys contrast. Low buys time.
A mid taper starts around the temple and takes more of the side down, so it looks sharper on the day and shows growth sooner. From Hobbs I'd lean low unless you have a reason to want the contrast. The top is yours either way, from a short crop to the longer combed style on the main taper page.

Does a low taper really mean fewer drives from Hobbs?+
Usually. With so little skin showing it stays presentable longer than a skin fade; how long depends on your hair, and I'll estimate it in the chair.
Is a low taper too subtle for short hair?+
No. On a short top it keeps the outline neat without making the sides look shaved, so the cut stays balanced.
