Artesia's humidity averages about 38% and the July high averages 97°F (Open-Meteo, 2023–25). Air that dry, with that much sun, leaves the skin under a beard tight and the hair coarse. A hot towel puts moisture back before the blade, and the aftershave at the end is there for the ride home through the same dry air.
