How Long Does a Perm Take? What Happens in 90 Minutes
A perm at my shop is booked as a 90 min appointment on Booksy, and the Perm is $95. That window covers the whole job: talking through the look, setting the hair on rods, the waving solution, the neutralizer and the final rinse.
Below is where the time goes, what makes one perm longer than another, and how to plan the rest of your day around it.

Where the time goes.
A perm is chemistry, done in order.
Talk it through
We start with what you want out of it: lift at the top, texture in a crop, or some shape in hair that won't hold one on its own. A photo of the wave or curl you have in mind gets us aimed at the same result.
Wrap the rods
The hair is sectioned and wound around rods. Rod size decides the result: smaller rods make a tighter curl, bigger rods a looser wave. This is the hands-on part, and it runs longer on thick or long hair.
Solution and neutralizer
A waving solution goes on and softens the hair's inner structure so it takes the shape of the rod. Once it has processed, it is rinsed out and a neutralizer locks the new shape in.
Rinse and finish
The rods come out, the hair gets another rinse, and it is styled so you leave seeing what the perm actually did.
No two perms run alike.
Hair decides the pace.
Length and thickness matter most. A short top needs fewer rods than a full head of longer hair, and every extra rod is time in the chair.
How readily your hair takes a curl changes how long the solution needs, too. Booksy blocks the full 90 min either way, so neither of us has to guess or rush it.
Hair that has never been colored or chemically treated tends to take a curl more predictably than hair that has. Previous color is one more thing that changes the pace.

Nothing tight after it.
Pick a time with nothing waiting right behind it. A perm can't be paused halfway through, so a slot squeezed in before a shift isn't the one to choose.
Saturday runs 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, so an early Saturday slot leaves the rest of your day free. Whatever the day, pick a time you can sit through without stepping out.
You pay once it's done, by cash, card, Zelle or Cash App. If something comes up, cancel on Booksy well ahead, because a no-show or a late cancellation may be charged a fee.
MORE QUESTIONS ANSWEREDPerm or something else.
Shape, not shade.
A perm is for shape. It suits hair that lies flat, won't hold volume, or needs texture that styling alone can't give it. A loose wave can add movement through a textured crop, and tighter curls can sit on top over a faded side.
Styling products give you shape for a day. A perm changes the structure of the hair you have now, so the shape stays in that hair. New growth comes in with your natural texture.
If the goal is a new color rather than a new shape, that is the Color Transformation, not a perm. If your hair has been bleached or colored recently, mention it when you text, since both are chemical services on the same hair. Not sure a perm will do what you want? Text me a photo of your hair now next to the look you're after.
Perm questions.
How long does a perm take?+
At Divinely Faded, Booksy holds 90 min for a Perm. That covers talking through the look, the rods, the solution, the neutralizer and the rinse.
How much is a perm?+
The Perm is $95, paid after the service.
Does a perm grow out?+
The curl stays in the hair that was permed. New hair grows in with your natural texture, and the permed lengths come off as you get cut.
What should I bring to a perm appointment?+
A photo of the wave or curl you want, and a schedule that's clear for the full 90 min.
Can I get a perm on short hair?+
The hair needs enough length to wrap around a rod. If you aren't sure yours is long enough, text me a photo before you book.
