Barbershop Etiquette: Arriving, Phones, Payment and Cancelling
Good barbershop etiquette comes down to four things: book ahead, show up on time, keep the phone away from your ears while I'm working there, and cancel early if you can't make it. At my shop, every visit is an appointment through Booksy, and you pay after the cut.
None of it is complicated. Here is how each part works at Divinely Faded.

Book it, then show up.
The visit starts on Booksy.
Book first
I cut by appointment only. Booksy shows every open time and is where you choose your service. If nothing fits, text me rather than showing up and hoping.
Be on time
I work solo, so your appointment is a set piece of my day. Plan for traffic, so the cut starts when it should and nobody is squeezed.
Pick the right service
The Essential Haircut is the cut alone. If your beard needs a trim or a line-up, the Signature Cut is the booking that has room for it, so choose it from the start.
Booking for a kid
Kids book on Booksy the same way you do, from the same menu. Put the appointment under the service they need, and come in with them.
Bring a photo
A screenshot of the cut you want, saved before you arrive, does most of the explaining for you. Have it ready when you sit down.
HOURS AND DIRECTIONSPhones and stillness.
Small things that help the cut.
A phone held up to your ear sits right where the clippers need to go around the ear and neckline. If a call can't wait, say so first, so the work can stop at a safe moment rather than mid-line.
Keep your head where I set it, especially when the straight razor comes out. Glasses come off for the sides and back, so keep them close to check the finished cut. If something feels off, like a towel that's too hot, tell me right away.
Earbuds are fine for music, but they sit right where the edges around the ear get cleaned up, so expect to take them out for that part.
Pay after, your way.
Four ways to pay.
Payment is due in full once the service is finished, not before. I take cash, card, Zelle and Cash App.
Booking on a holiday? Appointments on the holiday itself carry a $20 holiday fee on top of the service, so expect it on the bill. The days around the holiday are regular prices.
Want an add-on, like a wash and scalp massage for $10? Choose it on Booksy when you book.
READ THE FAQIf plans change.
Tell Booksy early.
The moment you know you can't make it, cancel or move the appointment in the app. Skipping it, or cancelling at the last minute, may cost you a fee.
Cancelling early also opens the slot for someone else. With one barber, a slot that sits empty is a haircut that doesn't happen. Rescheduling works the same way: move the appointment in Booksy rather than skipping it. Feeling sick counts as plans changing, so move the visit instead of coming in.
Running behind? Text me at (575) 706-3095 so I know you're on the way.
Say it early.
Before the clippers, not after.
Tell me up front how much comes off the sides, how long the top stays, and whether the beard is part of it. If the beard needs work, book the Signature Cut rather than the Essential, so the time for it is already on the calendar.
If something looks different from what you pictured, say so while the cut is still going. A change is easy mid-cut and much harder once the sides are already short.
Texting is the quickest way to reach me, before or after the visit. Save (575) 706-3095 in your phone so it's there when you need it.
Etiquette questions.
Do I need to book ahead for a haircut?+
Yes. Every visit at Divinely Faded is booked in advance on Booksy.
What if I'm running late?+
Text me as soon as you know, so I'm not left guessing whether you're coming.
Can I text instead of calling?+
Yes. I'd rather get a text than a call, and texting is the quickest way to reach me.
When do I pay?+
After the service. Cash, card, Zelle and Cash App all work.
Is there a fee for cancelling?+
No-shows and late cancellations may be charged a fee through Booksy. Cancel well ahead and you keep that off the table.
